Sejarah Manchester United

Pada awalnya, klub ini bernama Newton Heath L & YR F.C. yang didirikan pada tahun 1878.

Nama kemudian berubah menjadi Manchester United pada tahun 1902.

The Red Devils memenangkan gelar pertama pada tahun 1908.

Namun MU baru mengalami kesuksesan yang berkelanjutan pada tahun 1950-an, setelah ditangani oleh manajer legendaris Sir Matt Busby.

Busby mampu memberikan tiga gelar pada dekade 50-an, dan menjadikan MU klub Inggris pertama yang berkompetisi di Piala Eropa, di mana mereka kalah di semi-final oleh Real Madrid pada tahun 1957.

Klub mengalami saat duka mendalam pada tahun 1958 ketika pesawat yang membawa tim pulang dari pertandingan Eropa jatuh sehingga menewaskan delapan pemain dalam tragedi yang dikenal sebagai bencana udara Munich.

Busby, yang selamat dari kecelakaan, bersama dengan pemain terbesar klub, Sir Bobby Charlton, berusaha membangun kembali tim.
